OU alumni, students, faculty and staff are invited to bring their family and friends to celebrate Come Home to OU, the university’s first official homecoming, set for Friday and Saturday, Feb. 6-7.
Highlights of the weekend include a winter ice skating party starting at 5 p.m. on Friday. Located in the P16 Parking Lot (in front of Fitzgerald House), the free event will offer plenty of fun for families with children of all ages. Guests can bundle up to enjoy an evening of skating on an artificial rink in a heated tent. Warm winter treats including hot cocoa will be provided, along with music. Other family-friendly events planned for the weekend include:
• Family Fest – Saturday, Feb. 7 – 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Campus Recreation Center This carnival-like event will feature a range of activities spread throughout the Recreation Center. The emphasis will be on having fun in a family-friendly atmosphere, which will include putt-putt golf, interactive video games, face painting, inflatable stations for youths, and arts and crafts. The event will also offer plenty of photo opportunities with the OU mascot, The Grizz.
• Tailgate Party – Saturday, Feb 7 – 1-3:30 p.m., P16 Parking Lot Celebrate the Golden Grizzlies spirit in anticipation of the homecoming basketball games. Held directly across from the O’rena in heated tents, this event will offer attendees a variety of delicious tailgate foods.
• Women’s and Men’s Basketball Games – 3:30- 8 p.m., O’rena Cheer on OU’s men’s and women’s basketball teams as they take on Centenary College. The first 200 fans in attendance at the women’s game will be admitted for free to both games.
