Tenured and tenure-track faculty and doctoral students throughout the university are invited to apply for a cash award through the Jacqueline I. Lougheed Research Fund. These annual awards are issued to support research focusing on women in education or women in leadership positions.
Lougheed joined Oakland University in 1968 after working as a teacher and principal in the Detroit Public Schools. She was the first woman in the School of Education and Human Services to receive a full professorship.
During her 37 years at OU, Lougheed contributed significantly to the advancement of women in higher education. In recognition of this, she received OU's Teaching Excellence Award in 1994 and the Phyllis Law Googasian Award in 1995. Lougheed retired in 2005 and died in 2007.
Applications for the Jacqueline I. Lougheed Research Fund award will be accepted from all disciplines, though preference will be given to those from the School of Education and Human Services. The award is administered by the SEHS Research Support Committee.
A request for proposals form is available online at the SEHS Research Funding Web site. The deadline for applications is Monday, Feb. 23.
