"Clowns" promises one wacky ride on the Varner stage

A family-friendly fun fest returns to the Varner Studio Theatre stage this month as two talented Oakland University professors present "How Many Clowns Can You Fit In a Volkswagen?", with shows January 15-18, 2009.

Doris and Paul Travis Professor of Theatre Karen Sheridan and Adjunct Professor Rick Carver combine their abilities for a delightful drive down havoc highway in what could be described as one wacky ride. The Detroit-based duo’s variety show includes magic, music, escapology and dancing, but the spotlight is always on comedy. Their array of personalities meet and clash in a series of comic sketches that bring male and female egos to the test.  Come join the antics of these two slapstickers (spontaneons, hilarians) in an evening for one and all.

Performances are Thursday, January 15, at 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.; Friday, January 16 at 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.; Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, January 18, 2 p.m.

Tickets are $16 for general admission, $8 for students and $6 for all 10 a.m. matinee seats and available at the Varner Box Office, open in the theatre lobby for one hour before performances and near Varner Recital Hall from 3-6 p.m., Tuesday-Friday. Also at Star Tickets Plus, www.starticketsplus.com or call 800-585-3737. For additional information, call 248-370-2030 or write to mtd@oakland.edu
