Fall commencement exercises set for Saturday

Nearly 1,900 undergraduate and graduate students will be recognized for completing their coursework and earning their degrees during fall commencement ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 13.

Live Internet broadcasts of three ceremonies taking place in the OU Athletics Arena will allow families and friends unable to attend in person to witness the exercises.

Web users can view the live commencement stream using Windows Media Player for Windows users, Flip4Mac plug-in for Mac users.  To access the live broadcast, click here. The link will be active only during commencement exercises.

Three ceremonies will be held in the OU Athletics Arena:
• 9 a.m. School of Education and Human Services and the School of Nursing
• 1 p.m., School of Business AdministrationSchool of Engineering and Computer Science and Bachelor of Integrated Studies
• 5 p.m., College of Arts and Sciences and School of Health Sciences

At the 9 a.m. ceremony, Edward G. Repka, a bachelor of arts student in nurse anesthesia, will deliver the student address.

At the 1 p.m. ceremony, N. R. Naraya Murthy, founder of the global information technology and consulting software services provider Infosys Technologies Limited, will receive an honorary degree. Ron May, senior vice president for DTE Energy, will deliver the keynote address.

At the 5 p.m. ceremony, the speaker will be Chelsea Danae Rhodes, a bachelor of sciences student in the music teacher preparation program.

Graduates at each ceremony will receive a diploma cover. Diplomas will be mailed approximately 8-12 weeks after graduation.

Graduates should arrive in the lower level of the Rec Center an hour before the start of graduation to receive a name card and be escorted to the appropriate area. Doors will open 30 minutes prior to the start of each ceremony and all guests should be seated 15 minutes before the ceremony begins. Tickets are required and were to be picked up during the Graduation Fair held in early November.

Those planning to attend graduation should review the campus map and parking information. Parking is free and open to the public, except where indicated. In case of inclement weather, information will be available by calling (248) 370-2000 or by tuning in to WWJ or WJR radio stations or Fox2, WDIV-TV or WXYZ-TV.

Each ceremony will be interpreted in sign language, and guests with special needs should call the Office of the Provost at (248) 370-2190.
