Students whose declining financial circumstances have put their ability to pay for college in jeopardy are encouraged to visit the Financial Aid Office to see if they qualify for tuition assistance from the fund. Low-interest federal loans and other forms of financial aid are also available to those in need.
Oakland University has taken other measures to assist students with tight personal finances. In November, registration holds were released for students with account balances of $1,500 or less, allowing them to register for winter 2009 classes. Although balances must be paid in full by January 2, the ability to register on time is allowing many OU students to maintain continuous enrollment.
Students who may benefit from additional financial assistance are encouraged to visit Oakland’s Financial Aid Office immediately at 120 North Foundation Hall for walk-in advising. They can also call (248) 370-2550, e-mail finaid@oakland.edu or visit www.oakland.edu/financialaid to see if they qualify for special assistance or other forms of aid.
