Former SBA Associate Dean Eileen Peacock named by AACSB International as Vice President for Asia


International today announced the appointment of Eileen Peacock as Vice President for Asia. Dr. Peacock, who currently serves as dean of the Charlton College of Business and professor of accounting at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, will assume her role with AACSB International beginning June 2009. As vice president, Dr. Peacock will guide the association's expansion efforts within Asia, and will direct AACSB's first headquarters outside of the United States. In support of AACSB's mission to advance management education worldwide through accreditation and thought leadership, Peacock will also facilitate the development of a strong mentorship program focused on understanding and responding to the region's specific issues and challenges.

"Today the Asian region hosts more than 4,300 intuitions that provide business degrees, and more than 1,600 offer an MBA," said John Fernandes, president and chief executive officer of AACSB International. "Recognizing our robust, global standards, continuous improvement focus, and supporting services, many Asian schools have turned to AACSB to meet their development, networking, and global quality assurance needs."

Her expertise will lead our efforts in building management education capability and quality throughout the Asia region."
 
Peacock, came to the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 2004 after serving as associate dean and professor of accounting at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. She obtained her Bachelor of Technology from University of Loughborough, England, and a Ph.D. from the University of Birmingham, England. In addition, Dr. Peacock obtained a Master of Accountancy from University of Oklahoma, and maintains her CPA and CMA licensures. Her research has been published in a wide variety of publications, including The Journal of Information Systems, Information & Management, The British Accounting Review, Review of Business Information Systems, Internal Auditing, Journal of Cost Management, Journal of International Accounting, Auditing and Taxation, and Database. Currently Dr. Peacock is a member of the AACSB International Board of Directors, and serves on the Initial Accreditation Committee.
