Professor Emeritus conducts Warren Symphony in 'Ellis Island'

The Warren Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Oakland University Professor Emeritus David Daniels, will present a concert event, "America, The Melting Pot," on Sunday, November 2, 3 p.m., at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts.

The WSO will perform Ellis Island: the Dream of America, Peter Boyer’s most ambitious work to date, which celebrates the American immigrant experience and the American dream.  Innovative in its format, the work brings elements of the theatre and multimedia into the concert hall, employing actors and projected historical images from the Ellis Island archives. The Orchestra first performed this piece in 2005; many of the actors are reprising their original roles.

Performers are Shirley Benyas, David Bokas, Henrietta Hermelin, Samuel Pollak, Rochelle Rosenthal, OU theatre professor Karen Sheridan and Travis Walter.

Admission is $23, or $20 for seniors and $10 for students, or free for anyone high school age and younger. The Macomb Center for the Performing Arts is located at 44575 Garfield Road (at Hall Road), Clinton Township. For information, call (586) 286-2222 or visit www.macombcenter.com.
