Local leaders to discuss running a city in the 21st century

In support of the College of Arts and Sciences' “Cities” theme, Oakland University's Master of Public Administration (MPA) program is hosting a panel discussion on Thursday, Oct. 23, at 2 p.m. in the Oakland Room of the Oakland Center. Four local leaders, all alumni of Oakland’s MPA program, will speak on current challenges facing city management.

Panelists Peter Auger, city manager of Auburn Hills; Robert Belleman, city manager of Bay City; Jackie Noonan, mayor of Utica; and Clarence Phillips, mayor of Pontiac, will each bring their experienced perspectives to topics ranging from public trust to the role of change in running a city in the 21st century. The discussion will be followed by a question-and-answer session. 

The NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Administration program at Oakland University has been graduating public leaders since 1981. The program is built around a distinguished group of faculty and alumni who serve as teachers and mentors to future civic professionals.
