Heather Dragun's Why Climb a Mountain?

Last fall, the Kresge Library successfully presented the juried art exhibition, art ex libris, in collaboration with the Art and Art History Department. The art exhibit, comprised of withdrawn library books made into art by Oakland University students, was on display throughout October 2007.

The show’s guidelines allowed students to choose up to ten withdrawn library books with which to create their art. Nineteen students submitted work for the competition. Five Art and Art History faculty members judged the submissions; prize ribbons announced the winners at the well-attended opening reception held October 10, 2007.

The first, second, and third place winners, Billy Okawa, James Haddrill, and Tari Kahrs, received SpiritCash provided by Julie Voelck, Dean of the Library, in the amounts of $150, $100, and $50, respectively.
