Advising week planned for Oct. 6-10

“Advising Week is designed to connect students with their advisers,” said Jennifer Singleton, academic adviser for the School of Education and Human Services. “This event is hosted in the fall and winter semester to inform students of registration and encourage them to make appointments with advisers.”

The Advising Resource Fair will be held Wednesday, Oct. 8, from noon to 1 p.m. in the main hallway of the Oakland Center. Students are invited to stop by and get information about advising and registration. They can have their picture taken with the Grizz mascot and spin the prize wheel to win OU swag. Eight priority registration spots will also be up for grabs.

The Career Success Panel will be held Thursday, Oct. 9, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Oakland Center Fireside Lounge. The panel will focus on career opportunities in the media. Several guest speakers will be in attendance, including professionals from the Oakland Press, Hour Media, WDIV Channel 4 and local radio station 96.3 WDVD. Panelists will discuss various topics, including the job outlook in the media, how to prepare for a media job and the skills needed for career success. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and network with the representatives.

• Ask Your Adviser, Tuesday, Oct. 7, 5-6:30 p.m., Vandenberg Hall Cafeteria
• Advising Information Tables, Tuesday, Oct. 7, 6-7:30 p.m., outside between North and South Foundation Hall and outside the O'Rena
• Golf Cart Advising, Thursday, Oct. 9, 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m., various campus locations
• Adviser Appreciation Day, Friday, Oct. 10
