Special-needs transition workshop begins Sept. 13

Oakland University’s School of Education and Human Services (SEHS) will host “The Transition Process: Planning Services and Options for Special-Needs Students,” a workshop for agency and school counselors, educators and administrators. The class offers strategies that help special-needs students transition from school to adult life. Course meetings are scheduled for Friday evenings and Saturdays at OU, beginning Sept. 13. The registration deadline is Sept. 9.

Lynn A. Boza, Ph.D., an experienced vocational rehabilitation counselor, supervisor, trainer and transition consultant, will lead the course. As a rehabilitation consultant with Michigan's Transition Services Project, she provided training for educators, agencies and parents. Boza presents nationally on the topic of transition services. She has served as president of both the Rehabilitation Counselors and Educators Association and the National Association for Rehabilitation Leadership.

The cost of the workshop is $345, if enrolled for non-credit, continuing education. There is an option to take the course for two university graduate credits. Details are available online at www.oakland.edu/pd.
