SPB/SAFB Carnival and Sigma Pi Pig Roast set for Sept. 5

By Eric Reikowski, media relations assistant

The Student Program Board/Student Activities Funding Board Carnival and Sigma Pi Pig Roast will be held on Friday, Sept. 5, in the Upper Fields from 7 p.m.-midnight.  The Pig Roast, celebrating its 14th year, is a fixture of Welcome Week’s fun-filled series of events ushering in the fall semester.

"This event has a fun, great atmosphere to hang out and meet new people," said Billy Flatt, event coordinator.  "This year we have three bands and a DJ, more food and more games."

The pig roast will be held alongside the third annual SPB/SAFB carnival, an event featuring a vast assortment of action-packed activities.

“We have a wide range of activities for every student, including bumper cars, inflatable basketball, midway games, Turbo Tubs and a new ride called Bonzi Bikes where students race each other in a 360-degree circle,” said Amanda Vanderford, SPB chairperson.“There will also be a variety of classic carnival food, including elephant ears, snow cones, cotton candy, popcorn and caramel apples.”

The pig roast and carnival are free to OU students.

For more information on the other Welcome Week activities, view the Welcome Week calendar.
