Barnes & Noble at OU offers textbooks on campus and online

By Eric Reikowski, media relations assistant

As the fall semester approaches, many students will flock to Barnes & Noble at OU, the on-campus bookstore, to purchase textbooks, supplies and other course materials. Fall rush is one of the busiest times of the year and students are encouraged to shop early to get the best deals, according to Debbie Ogg, manager of Barnes & Noble at OU.

“Students who shop the earliest will have the best shot at getting used textbooks, which are offered at lower prices,” said Ogg.

Textbooks can also be purchased at the bookstore’s Web site.  Students can look up and purchase books by term, department, section or course number and have their order shipped via UPS or pick it up in the store. Students who choose the shipping option can pay by credit card, Barnes & Noble gift card or SpiritCash. Books are held for the first two weeks of the semester for in-store pick up.

In addition, students who pay with their SpiritCard will save 5 percent on the price of each textbook. A portion of all sales will be used to fund OU scholarships.

The last day to return merchandise is Tuesday, Sept. 16.  To ensure a refund, students should return items, with receipt, in original condition and leave wrapped materials unopened.

Students can participate in the textbook buyback program year-around.

“December is a big month for buybacks,” Ogg said. “The very best time to do buybacks is the week of finals.”

Textbooks being used the following semester typically fetch the highest prices, with students getting back up to 50 percent of what they paid.

The bookstore will be open extended hours during the first two weeks of the semester.
