The 2008-09 Grizz Gang student organization (student fan zone) is gearing up for another exciting year of athletic contests. The Grizz Gang, a recognized campus student organization, currently comprised of more than 500 members, encourages all students to become a member of the Oakland Athletics tradition. By becoming a member of the Grizz Gang students receive a free T-shirt sponsored by Student Congress, free entry to all OU home athletic events, reduced costs for off-site OU athletic contests, seating in the Grizz Gang student section in the state-of-the-art O’rena, and opportunity to win a variety of prizes and participate in contests throughout the year. View the Grizz Gang information flyer for membership and registration information.
Students registered for the 2008-09 Grizz Gang are invited to attend the Grizz Gang Jumpin’ Jamboree on Thursday, Sept. 4 from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. in the Hamlin Circle. The Jumpin’ Jamboree will allow students the opportunity to meet and greet with OU coaches and athletes, received signed team posters, take photos with the Grizz, participate in a variety of outdoor games, and enjoy free food and beverages.
The Jumpin’ Jamboree will also serve as the kickoff event for the Grizz Gang Passport program, a new initiative to encourage OU students to take a tour of OU athletics and experience all that is offered right on campus.
The program is reward-based and calls for students to attend as many athletic events as they can to accrue points for prizes. Students will be given passports at the Jumpin’ Jamboree that will make them eligible to participate in the program for all of the 2008-09 athletic events. Passport winners will be announced at select athletics contests three times each month. At each announcement event the student with the most points accrued will have the opportunity to win prizes from OU Athletics, local businesses and restaurants. Visit the Grizz Gang link from the OU Athletics Web site for program rules and announcement dates.
