Welcome to The Lean Advantage, the Oakland University Pawley Lean Institute e-newsletter.

The Lean Advantage is a quarterly electronic newsletter designed to provide useful information to our readers about the Pawley Lean Institute, our services, workshops and classes, and our student and client successes.
 
The principles taught through the Pawley Lean Institute prepare students for tomorrow’s business world as well as assist organizations, non-profits, schools and businesses in streamlining processes for maximum results and effectiveness, while providing greater value to the customer. Future issues of The Lean Advantage will provide detailed information about Lean thinking and its specific applications, including examples of how Lean thinking can be used in diverse situations. First OU Lean Principles course receives rave reviews

Lean Thinking for Schools
First Lean Thinking for Schools workshop hosted at Washtenaw ISD
Running a school today takes much more than reading, writing and arithmetic. It takes the ability to successfully balance limited financial resources with greater demands for high quality student results. Lean thinking can help. Full Story... 
Lean Thinking for Schools Certificate Programs
Schools and other service organizations can participate in additional Lean training, including a series of workshops and online learning activities. The entire series includes eight sessions and results in a Lean Professional Certificate. Lean leaders and teams will benefit from this workshop series, but individual Lean champions may also participate. School superintendents enrolled in MASA's Courageous Journey can apply this program toward completion requirements and also engage in a Lean-based systemic change project. School Resources and Offerings
The Oakland University Pawley Lean Institute offers a variety of options for training, including interactive television for distance learning, project development support and phone consultations. In addition, several online resources are available at no cost. These include hyperlinked resource lists, various white papers on topics of interest to school leaders considering Lean, and web-based organizational tiered assessment tools. The Pawley Lean Institute offers undergraduate and graduate classes in Lean principles. Registration is going on now for the following courses:

Lean Principles and Practices in Organizations
This activity-based introduction to the principles and practices in human resource development explores innovative way to solve persistent problems confronting organizations today. The course includes hands-on simulations, expert guest speakers and on-site tours.
Graduate
 
Lean Principles and Applications
Gain real-life experience by developing a project of your choice in a multitude of industries including non-profit, for-profit, health care, and manufacturing in settings ranging from small business to plant manufacturing.
