In order to increase data accuracy and streamline the admissions process for students, Oakland University’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions has moved its application completely online. Paper applications will only be accepted in special circumstances.
Students should go to the How to Apply Web page for step-by-step instructions on applying by student type.
By using the online application, students can create a log-in and complete the application at their own pace. They can move between several parts of the application and submit it when ready. The online application also allows OU to immediately offer new, approved major codes to undergraduate applicants.
“OU is moving away from paper applications because they quickly fall out of date and slow students down,” says Dawn Aubry, associate director of undergraduate admissions. “We’re asking all OU staff to recycle paper applications and refer students directly to the Web to apply for admission.”
The online-only application comes a few months after OU announced that application fees were no longer required. This change is expected to increase the number of applications received to the university, which will allow for a more diverse student population.
