OUAA announces 2008 scholarship winners

The Oakland University Alumni Association (OUAA) awarded scholarships to 28 OU students and alumni for the 2008-09 academic year. The recipients will be honored during the Scholarship Recognition Breakfast Sept. 20, 2008, in Meadow Brook Hall.

• School of Business Administration Alumni Scholarship: Waseem Samaan of Sterling Heights, junior accounting and finance major
• College of Arts and Sciences Alumni Scholarship: Lana Brown of Auburn Hills, senior East Asian studies major with a focus on Japan; and Ashleigh Gallegos of Redford, senior Spanish/K-12 education major
• School of Education and Human Services Alumni Scholarship: Quanika Chappel of Flint, junior elementary education major
• School of Engineering and Computer Science Alumni Scholarship: Keith Jones of Waterford, junior electrical engineering major
• School of Health Sciences Alumni Scholarship: Emily Fisher of Farmington Hills, junior health sciences and pre-pharmacy major
• School of Nursing Alumni Scholarship: Heather Cuykendall of Auburn Hills, senior nursing major; and Nicole Phibbs of Fowlerville, junior nursing major
• Black Alumni Scholarship: Alexis Redmond of Pontiac, junior sociology and anthropology major
• Honors College Alumni Scholarship: Jenna Bourdeau of Macomb, junior biology/pre-med major
• Frances C. Amos School of Business Administration Alumni Scholarship: Jennifer Cecchetti of Rochester Hills, junior business major
• Thomas A. Yatooma Alumni Memorial Scholarship for the School of Engineering and Computer Science: Michelle Dick of Grand Blanc, junior systems and industrial engineering major
• Legacy Scholarship: Nathan Benoit of Sterling Heights, freshman elementary education major; and Katherine Wasek of Shelby Township, freshman pre-med major
• Returning Alumni Scholarship: Dianne Gould of Bay City, doctoral student in physical therapy; and Suzanne Curtis of Rochester Hills, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in nursing
• Working Student Scholarship: Daniel Breznau of Oxford, junior biology/pre-med major; Jordan Twardy of Warren, senior political science and history major; Corey Schmidt of Fenton, sophomore public administration and public policy major; Marlene Edge of Troy, senior anthropology major, archaeology concentration; and Stacy Lutz of Weston, Missouri, senior music education major
