There is still time to register students in the Department of Human Development and Child Studies’ summer enrichment program for children with specific learning disabilities. The six-week program will run from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday from June 30 to Aug. 8 in the Lowry Center. The program will be closed on July 4 for the holiday. The cost is $300, but there is financial assistance available.
The enrichment program is geared for children 7-11 years old, and will help reinforce skills and meet academic goals, said Carol Swift, associate professor and chair of the department.
“It really is a fun experience,” Swift said.
The first part of the day is spent working in groups, Swift said. The last hour of the day is spent working toward individual goals. During the program, the children will work with graduate students in the special education program, under the supervision of faculty members.
