With presentations ranging from complex chemical analysis to relationship studies, the event attracted spectators to the poster presentations and the oral presentations, which were held in South Foundation Hall.
“It’s a good chance for an undergraduate student to present research,” said Gero Harzmann, a researcher in the chemistry department. “”Most of the time you don’t get that chance.”
His research centers around organic synthesis and making molecules that can be used by biomedical and other groups. He is at OU as part of an exchange program, and plans to return to
“This is my second time at Meeting of the Minds,” said Jamie Herzfeld, CAS ‘08. “It’s a great way to get your research out.”
Herzfeld, Angela Rowley, CAS ’08 and others studied differences in love and attachment in young adulthood. They will present this research at an American Psychological Science conference later in the year, and this is great practice for that, said Herzfeld.

“It’s very good because you get to show what you are doing and see what everyone else is doing,” Rowley said.
The lone Studio Art presentation this year was from Vanessa Sales, a post-baccalaureate student studying Art Education, who said her project was inspired by Manet’s “
Sales said she decided to ask her mother and several of her friends to bring pictures of themselves when they thought they were at their best. Sales made charcoal sketches of the women holding the photos, and displayed the works at the Meeting of the Minds event.
“I’m really impressed with the research everyone has done and how serious it us,” Sales said.
