Summer construction projects begin around campus

By Rebecca Wyatt Thomas, OU Web writer

Summer construction projects around campus have begun. The construction projects will enhance campus services and increase security.

Road repairs around campus include repairs to the culvert located along Meadow Brook Road. The road, which runs on the north side of Hamlin Hall, just west of the student apartments, will be closed until May 23 for the repairs. The university’s main entrance will be repaved during the summer.

The summer construction projects include upgrades to several buildings on campus. There will be renovations to the Dodge Hall Room 361 laboratory as will as exhaust fan installations for several rooms in Dodge Hall. The roof of Kresge Library will be replaced.

Classrooms in Hannah Hall of Science, Vandenberg Hall, North Foundation Hall, O’Dowd Hall and Wilson Hall will undergo renovations. Third floor classrooms in South Foundation Hall will also undergo renovations.

Several campus projects will enhance security. Hamlin Hall and Vandenberg Hall will be equipped with a new security system that will require students to use their OU ID to gain access to either building.

Security will also be enhanced in the east wing of the ground floor of Wilson Hall, which houses the university’s chief administrative offices and official university records and documents.

Watch The News at OU throughout the summer for information on how these campus projects might impact campus traffic and activities.
