April and June graduates can participate in the spring commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 3 at the Baldwin Pavilion on the grounds of Meadow Brook Music Festival.
Degree candidates can download an informative graduation packet from the OU Commencement Web site to find out details for the big day. The packet contains important information on timing, attire, guest tickets, seating and information about purchasing graduation portraits and commemorative videotapes.
Commencement Schedule:
9 a.m.
1 p.m.
5 p.m.
Each ceremony will be interpreted in American Sign Language for the hearing impaired and will last approximately 90 minutes.
Diploma covers are handed out during the ceremony. Diplomas will be mailed to graduates about two months after graduation.
Students should arrive at least one hour prior to the beginning of the ceremony, check in and get a registration card from the box office area. Faculty marshals will be on hand to direct and assist graduates in lining up for the processional and to answer any questions.
Admission tickets are not required and there is no limit to the number of guests a graduate may bring to the ceremony. Guests should be informed that commencement is an outdoor ceremony and they should be prepared for the weather and lawn seating in the case that pavilion seating, which is first-come, first-served, is unavailable. Guests may bring lawn chairs (beach and sand chairs with short legs and back, 26-inch height maximum, and blankets).
Graduates and guests should park in the lots outside the festival pavilion. Handicapped parking will be clearly indicated by signs.
Professional photos of the graduates receiving their diplomas and walk-by commencement portraits will be available through Chappell Graduation Images. Family portraits will also be taken under the tent following the ceremony. Chappell will contact each graduate about purchasing photos. There is no fee for the photo sessions.
