2007 music grad wins MSU competition

Robert Benton (2007 B.M. Euphonium Performance) is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in Euphonium Performance at Michigan State University on a full scholarship.  This past year, he was the only brass player to win MSU’s Concerto Competition and performed with their orchestra in April.

While Robert was a student at Oakland he won the prestigious Stanley Hollingsworth International Travel Fellowship which allowed him to study one summer in England with internationally acclaimed euphonium virtuoso, Steven Mead.  He also received an Undergraduate Research Grant that allowed him to do further studies with Fritz Kaenzig, Thomas Stein and Steven Mead.
