Alumni employees learn about ambassador program

Theawiana English, CAS '97; Michelle Southward, CAS '00; Aniesha Mitchell, CAS '01; and Stephanie Lee, CAS '93, at the AAAP on-campus reception.
Almost one hundred OU alumni now employed at the university took the opportunity to discover OU's new initiative created with them in mind. On Thursday, January 17, 2008, the dual Offices of Undergraduate Admissions and Alumni Relations invited OU-employed alumni to drop in for lunch in order to meet the Coordinator of the new program and to discover the creative new outlets to become an Alumni Admissions Ambassador for their alma mater. Many arrived when the doors opened and stayed for the full hour, enjoying good food, reminiscing about old times, and looking ahead to their involvement in Oakland’s future.

The on-campus alumni community were able to become acquainted with the AAAP and to get a sense of where their involvement can be of benefit. “Being an Admissions Ambassador provides many ways alum can continue to give back and remain connected to an institution which provided the foundation for our many professional successes,” said Michelle Southward, CAS ’00, assistant director of the Center for Multicultural Initiatives, who attended the reception and signed up to be apart of the AAAP.

If you are an OU alum interested in volunteer opportunities like attending a college fair with an OU admissions representative, visiting the high school where you graduated from, online chats, or on-campus recruitment events and Welcome Receptions, contact Luke Fleer, program coordinator, at fleer@oakland.edu or (248) 370-GRIZ (4749).
