Oakland University Alumni Admissions Ambassadors had the opportunity to meet and greet newly admitted OU students and their families during the 2008 winter Welcome Receptions. The receptions provide the newly admitted Golden Grizzlies a meaningful evening with an opportunity to hear directly from Oakland’s leaders. Alumni Admissions Ambassadors were able to discuss their Oakland experience and help students narrow their choice to Oakland University.
During the reception, current students talk about their experiences and benefits from attending OU. Academic deans, advisors, and representatives from Student Affairs share information and answer questions about curriculum and student services.
“These receptions are a great opportunity for three generations of the OU family to interact; new students, current students, and alumni. As an alumnus, it is very fulfilling to return to OU and connect with new students and help make them feel welcomed to the OU family,” said Alumni Host Tom Schramski, SECS ’78, product engineering supervisor for Ford Motor Company.
Alumni shared their OU experience and connected with future Golden Grizzlies, while making a significant and meaningful contribution to their alma mater.
“Oakland University was instrumental in guiding my desire to thrive and reach a higher level of personal and professional accomplishment. This service is simply my way of saying thank you,” said Alumni Host Napoleon Harrington, SEHS ’02 and ’04, founder and CEO of the Ambassador Learning & Resource Group.
