Diverse Voices Conference scheduled for March 22

Students and faculty from local universities, as well as community members have the chance to come together and engage in dialogue about today’s human diversity issues and concern during the 10th Annual Diverse Voices Conference, scheduled for Sunday, March 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Oakland University’s Varner Recital Hall. Admission to Diverse Voices is free.

The conference will follow the theme “Critically Reflecting on Diversity Inclusion and Exclusion,” and will feature guest speaker Elizabeth Tisdell from Penn State University.

Student speakers will represent Oakland University, Davenport University, the University of Detroit Mercy and the University of Michigan Dearborn.

The event will feature entertainment by Michigan’s Energetic Soul Dance Studio and singer Brian Witkowski. Food will also be provided.

Diverse Voices is sponsored by the Chrysler Foundation, Oakland University’s Center for Multicultural Initiatives and the Department of Rhetoric, Communications and Journalism.
