In order to improve services to students, Oakland University is merging spring and summer terms into one extended summer semester. The new format will help students get ahead in their studies by offering greater flexibility in scheduling and increased opportunities to complete required courses. While most courses will fall into the two seven-week sessions previously offered during the spring and summer terms, a limited number of two-, four-, 10-, and 14-week courses will also be available.
Students can register for the summer semester by logging into SAIL and searching for available classes using either the course name or the date range in which they wish to attend. The start and end dates of each course should be noted, as some courses will be offered during multiple sessions. Students should register as soon as possible for best course selection and to ensure any requests for financial aid or enrollment verifications for insurance are processed in a timely manner.
Students planning to utilize financial aid during the summer semester will need to complete a Summer 2008 Financial Aid Application as soon as possible. Applications are available from the Financial Aid Web site. Only one application will be needed for the entire semester, and deadline dates are provided on the application. For further details, visit the Financial Aid Web site.
In accordance with the university’s de-registration policy, students who are not in good financial standing by mid-August (have not paid all prior semester bills in full) will be taken out of their fall classes. Students will be required to re-enroll for classes based on class availability if they correct their financial standing by paying prior balances in full. To stay in good financial standing, please pay all OU bills on or before their due dates. For more information on student bills and their due dates, visit the Student Business Services Web site.
