If you forget your SAIL login PIN and wish to obtain your scrambled PIN, you will need to correctly answer your SAIL question in the future. Oakland University provides an unofficial academic Web transcript to OU alumni who have graduated after 1987 through the OU SAIL Web site.
On Sept. 5, 2007, Oakland University, acting in compliance with state laws and industry best practices, removed Social Security Numbers as an identifier to OU electronic data. Alumni can no longer use their SSNs to login to SAIL. Alternatively, OU alumni will need to use their OU Grizzly ID to login to the university SAIL system. If you don’t know your Grizzly ID, visit the alumni online community, GrizzLink at www.oualumni.onlinecommunity.com. Access to your OU unofficial academic transcripts will be granted through a two-step process using two separate online systems.
Important - Each system has a unique set of usernames and passwords.
These steps are not difficult and are designed to ensure security of your information. Please try this process first and you can always call for assistance if it does not work.
The first system is the alumni online community, GrizzLink. Membership to GrizzLink is free to OU alumni. By joining GrizzLink, you will be able to view your personal profile Web page and obtain an OU Grizzly ID, which is required to login to the second OU SAIL Web site system, where you can get your online, academic transcript.
First system - GrizzLink online community
1. Login to GrizzLink at: https://www.oualumni.onlinecommunity.com/ng/FirstTimeUsers/tabid/5837/Default.aspx.
2. Follow the instructions on that page that say: "(If you do not have your PIDM number, please fill in your last name and DOB and select the text that says No PIDM Option.)" Your PIDM can be found above the address label of your recent OU Magazine.
3. Complete all the required fields in GrizzLink (there are not many) and continue through the five short forms by clicking NEXT STEP until you reach the FINISH button.
4. The alumni staff will then validate your GrizzLink registration which will trigger an e-mail back to you with your username and password.
5. When you receive the automatic e-mail validation response, return to GrizzLink and login with your new username and password.
6. From the left-hand navigation in GrizzLink, select the menu item "Update My Profile." In the third section of the Account Info, you will find a small Grizzly picture and your OU Grizzly ID (G00xxxxxx) next to it. This ID will allow you access to the OU SAIL transcript system where you can view your unofficial transcripts.
7. Just below your Grizzly ID number is a hyperlink to the OU SAIL system. The text on the GrizzLink profile page will read: "Grizz ID G00xxxxxx If you attended Oakland University after January 1, 1987, your unofficial transcript may be viewed and printed at the university's Web site by using your Grizz ID and clicking on this link to login to the OU SAIL system."
8. Please review and make any necessary changes to your OU biographical information while you are in your GrizzLink profile. You will need to complete a few required fields and follow through the Next Step buttons at the bottom of the five profile pages. Click Finish at the bottom of the last page to complete the update process of your record, but don't forget to copy your Grizzly ID.
9. Copy your Grizzly ID and click on the link on the Update Account Info page.

Second system - OU SAIL system
1. In SAIL, enter your Grizzly ID (G00xxxxxx) in the field that says "OUCA Username (or Grizzly ID)." Your password (PIN) should be either your 6-digit date of birth (MMDDYY) or the last 6-digits of your Grizzly ID.
2. Choose "Login." If the login fails, review the SAIL screen help information for assistance. You may need to reset your pin. Select "Grizzly ID Web site" from the text above the login which reads: "If you cannot remember your Grizzly ID, if your PIN is disabled or you have forgotten your PIN hint question, or if you want your PIN reset, go to the Grizzly ID Web site." Further instructions regarding this are found on the SAIL login Web page.
3. When you are in the OU SAIL system, be sure to visit the Personal Information section.
Review the "Change Security Question" menu choice and be sure that you have entered a question and answer that you will know the answer to in the future. This is very important, because PIN reset numbers will be scrambled beginning February 2008. The PIN reset will no longer go revert to your date of birth.
