College Goal Sunday provides FAFSA assistance

College Goal Sunday is a nation-wide campaign to help students fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The free event takes place Sunday, Feb. 10 from 2 to 4 p.m. at 27 locations throughout Michigan.

OU students can stop by any location for free on-site professional assistance filling out the FAFSA form. In addition, students can talk to professionals about financial aid resources and how to apply. All students are encouraged to complete a FAFSA as soon as possible to receive maximum consideration for financial aid. Students eligible for the Michigan Competitive Scholarship must apply by March 1.

Prior to College Goal Sunday, students should visit the FAFSA Web site to obtain their person identification number. Students will also need to bring their Social Security number, Social Security number of parent or legal guardian (if under 23 year old and a dependent), driver’s license, W-2 forms or any other record of money earned, 2007 Federal Income Tax return and the tax return of a spouse or parent, 2007 untaxed income records, 2007 bank statements, 2007 investment records and alien registration cards if not a United States citizen. For a more comprehensive list, visit the College Goal Sunday Web site.
