Author David Callahan to speak on ‘Cheating Culture’
David Callahan, author of “The Cheating Culture: Why More Americans Are Doing Wrong to Get Ahead,” will speak at Oakland University on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 3 p.m. in the Oakland Center Banquet Rooms. The lecture will be followed by a book signing and reception.
Callahan’s presentation will focus on why Americans are breaking the rules to get ahead and his analysis of the alarming state of ethics in America. He will examine why cheating has soared among students, and provide proven strategies for educators and students to promoting academic integrity.
Callahan has written extensively about American history, business, and public policy. He is author of six books and numerous articles that have appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, USA Today, and the American Prospect. He has also been a frequent commentator on CNN, CBS, PBS, MSNBC and Fox News, and has been a regular guest on radio talk shows across the country, including appearances on NPR’s Morning Edition, the Connection and the Tavis Smiley Show.
In 1999, Callahan co-founded Demos, a public policy think tank based in New York City that combines research and advocacy to strengthen democracy and expand economic opportunity within the United States. He holds a Ph.D. in politics from Princeton University.
